"I started surfing 25 years ago with my best friend Abilio Pinto (Billy Boy surfboards). We grew up at Gaia, the south side of Porto. At that time we were only with a little group who tried out surfing. I loved it and never stopped ever since.
I joined national and regional surf competitions and worked for international surf competitions that have been held here in the north of Portugal. I have been coaching the team of the Algarve Surf Club (founder: Sergio Brandaõ) for competitions and have been teaching 5 yrs for Billy Boy Surf School. I took the surf coach and lifeguard course in Portugal (F.P.S de Treinadores do surf) and I'm a swim and aqua fitness teacher. Since 4 years I put up Porto Surf camp in the North of Portugal.
Ever since I started to surf I never stopped loving it and I like to share this pure feeling of life (a pura Vida) and freedom that surfing gives. I hope to see you at our Oporto Surfcamp! Aloha & Positive Vibrations!"

"I know it sounds very cliché but it's true, surfing changed my life. I'm from the Netherlands and I graduated as a film director and scriptwriter in Amsterdam. Then 4 years ago, I started surfing and I never wanted to stop anymore. But I lived in Holland and although the surf scene there is getting bigger, it was a lot of hassle to go by car every time in the weekends to the beach (if there were waves). I kept dreaming of living next to the beach so I could surf every day. And that dream fortunately came true 2 yrs ago.
I moved to Portugal and started teaching here since 2007. I got my BSA Surf instructor and Lifeguard certificate in the South of England. I love to teach people to surf and always hope to give that addictive feeling of being in the water surfing.
I respect the ocean a lot and I'm happy that with surfing I can join the company of the ocean and the beach. Some days without the ocean make me homesick.
In the winter I go back to Holland to work with film but I always miss the waves a lot."

"Eighteen years ago we moved to Esmoriz, i was born in Porto. I studied for massage therapist and acupuncturist. I like sports a lot. I used to do a lot of Rollerblading and skating but since I started to surf 4yrs ago I only wanted to surf.
When I teach surfing I like to see the evolution the students make in some days. I like to see them catching their first wave, on the belly or already standing up, it doesn't matter. It makes me happy.
I like enjoying with the guests as well as in the water teaching as at the camp. To have barbeques and parties and to see everyone happy and relaxed after a surf session."
Favorite wave here in the north: Espinho
Surfed in: Portugal, Spain, France, Brazil, Peru, and Morocco.

"I grew up in Granja, a little town close to the see above Esmoriz and Espinho. I started surfing 15 yrs ago. I grew up with the sea and always liked the contact with the sea. I also play golf at a high level. I started playing golf when I was nine years old. Besides teaching surf I can also teach golf.
I have a degree in Tourism and started Oporto Surfcamp with Pedro 4 yrs ago. It's nice to see the guests having fun, chilling at the camp and I love hanging around and share thoughts. It's always a mixture of nationalities and cultures. The atmosphere is very informal and I like the family like environment."
