North of Portugal is the birth place of Portugal where it began
growing as a country in 1143 ac. It has a unique history
patrimony where genuine traditions are still alive and has
always been famous for its gastronomy, wine production and
the hospitality of its people.
Porto is situated 30 km North of the camp and it takes a 35- minute train ride from Esmoriz to the historical centre of Porto. In 2001 Unesco Foundation elected Porto as European Capital of Culture, for its beautiful architecture, wine making traditions (Port wine), gastronomy and unique characteristics. The city of Porto is surrounded by the Atlantic ocean and the famous Douro river, creating the ideal places to chill out by the beach, or party in the historical parts of town by the river where you can enjoy the city social life and breathtaking views Aveiro is situated 40 km South of the camp and it takes a 40-minute train ride from Esmoriz to city centre. Aveiro is known for its unique geographical features where sea and land connect in a strange way creating Inner City Rivers. It is usually called the Portuguese " Venetia" and is a truly romantic city. Aveiro hosts several Universities, which gives the city a young and well-animated population where parties and concerts occur on a daily base. Santa Maria da Feira is situated 8 km East of the camp and it takes a 10-minute car ride to the center of town. The city is internationally known for its special annual event " Medieval Fest " where the city becomes historical, taking you back to the way it was 400 years ago. All the population parties and welcomes the large number of visitors. At night the old part of town has animated bars and impressive discos. THE CLIMATE North of Portugal is under the Atlantic influence with mild winters (16 c°) and warm summers (27 c°) .The water temperature varies between 15 c° and 20 c°. HOW TO REACH OPORTO SURFCAMP By plane: Aero Porto Sá Carneiro (35 km from camp) (Ryan air, Easy jet, Air Berlin, Lufthansa, Tap Air, Brussels Airlines, Tuifly, Air France) By Metro The airport has a metro station from where you can take a train to Porto Campanha from where you can catch a train to Esmoriz) By Train You can catch a train from São Bento train station (Oporto) to Esmoriz train station. Or from Campanha (Porto) to Esmoriz train station Transfer by Oporto Surfcamp from the airport 25 euros |
